Vehicles in German Town Found Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Police stated they were alerted by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish fluid

Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Law enforcement say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The fluid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then located many other smeared cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials say preliminary tests show the substance was most likely human blood.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; investigators are currently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.

City officials stated they were working "to resolve the case" and have asked to the community for information.

A high-ranking representative said the attack left him speechless and had to be solved promptly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
